Recently, a report from China’s QQ News reported that a Shanghai woman was rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe symptoms, including difficulty breathing, coughing up blood, nausea, vomiting, and dark blue lips. Doctors diagnosed her with “gas poisoning”.

The patient, Ms Wang Fang , developed an unusual reaction after cleaning the แทงบอล UFABET ราคาดีที่สุด ไม่มีขั้นต่ำ bathroom at home. She mixed toilet cleaner with bleach,  believing it would help remove stains.  I just wanted to make the bathroom cleaner, so I tried mixing the two together. When I used it, the smell was so strong that it stung my nose, but I didn’t think it would be this dangerous,” Ms Wang said.

Doctors warn! Mixing chemicals like this is “seriously life-threatening”

Dr. Wang Lisha from the emergency department of Anting Hospital, who treated the patient, said that bleach commonly used mainly consists of “sodium hypochlorite (NaClO),” while toilet cleaners often contain “hydrochloric acid (HCl). When the two are mixed, a chemical reaction occurs and “chlorine gas” is released.

Chlorine gas is a toxic substance that directly affects the respiratory system. It can cause irritation to the eyes, nose, throat, and lungs. If inhaled in large quantities, it can cause acute pulmonary edema and may even cause death.

Fortunately, Ms Wang received timely treatment and her condition improved within hours of her admission. Doctors confirmed that her condition was not serious but that it was a “cautionary tale”.

Doctors recommend that people should not mix different types of cleaning chemicals together without advice from experts, as it can cause highly toxic substances. Windows should be opened or fans should be turned on during use. If any abnormal symptoms occur after exposure to chemicals, such as difficulty breathing, severe coughing, headache, or nausea, see a doctor immediately.
